Meet Us - Gerlinde Hopkins

Personal: Gerlinde is the President, Founder and the driving force behind the renowned “Gerlinde Photography, Inc.”which opened in 1977 at it’s present location.While still being an astute business woman, she is also a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.With her husband’s encouragement and support and the support of her two sons, she started her photography business in her home.It was not long before her business outgrew her home.The studio presently photographs 290 schools per year totaling over 50,000 children.Gerlinde Photography also takes Family Portraits, Corporate and Executive Portraits, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Local and Destination Weddings.Gerlinde’s clients are all over the USA and her photographers have traveled as far as California and New York to photograph events.Her client list includes many well-known South Florida families as well as dignitaries in Washington D.C. including President Bush and his family.In 2001, her son Michael was asked to photograph the Presidential Inauguration but had to decline due to a previous contracted commitment.Gerlinde’s sophisticated, classic portraiture has been a part of South Florida for over 30 years.“Service above self” has always been her motto.

Education: Vocational Photo Fachschule-Giessen, Germany.Studied under Master Photographer Friedrich Jung.Received her photography degree in 1961.

Continued Education: Veronica Cass Academy of Photographic Arts - Negative Retouching and Print Enhancement Retouching,Photo Finishing and Freelance Work 1965-1974 in New York and Freelance Work 1974-1977 in Hollywood, Florida.

Awards and Recognitions: Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce "Breaking the Glass Ceiling" Award December 2005, Top 25 Women Owned Businesses 1994, Nominee Athena Award 1994, Nominee Avon Women of Enterprise 1995, Crown Award for Best Children Photographer from South Florida Parenting Magazine every year since 1997, Vista Award recipient 1998, Received Key to the Town of Davie, Featured in the Miami Herald Business Section, Interviewed on WLRN-TV by Dr. Steven Goldstein for the Business Exchange 1999, Nova Southeastern University 2001 Corporate Partner of the Year. Inducted into the South Florida Parenting Magazine's Kids Crown Award Hall of Fame.
